Objectives of the workshop :
 
 To help curriculum leaders gain a broader perspective of human resources management and understand the key issues involved in the human resources management cycle (including staff recruitment, deployment, development and appraisal)
 To explore the principles and strategies for implementing each stage of the management cycle
 To demonstrate how human resources can be used effectively and/or strategically

Part 1: Staff recruitment
 
 Key considerations for recruiting the right people on board
 Steps to recruit staff
 Setting clear expectations and assessment criteria
 Adopting multiple assessment methods
 Experience sharing: Mr Stephen Lam, panel head of Cotton Spinners Association Secondary School shared his expereince of recruiting the right people for the English panel.

Part 2: Staff deployment
 
 Motivating staff to make positive contributions through effective staff deployment
 Making decision regarding the types of tasks to be delegated
 Adopting appropriate leadership styles to match the maturity levels of team members
 Role of the leader in the delegation process
 Experience sharing: Mr Stephen Lam, the panel head of Cotton Spinners Association Secondary School shared how to delegate tasks to panel members effectively through understanding their characters and maturity levels.

Part 3: Staff development
 
 Aligning individual needs with the needs of the school
 Basic principles of staff development
 Role of leader in the staff development process
 Exploring possible ways to overcome difficulties encountered during the process
 Experience sharing: Ms Harriet Chow, panel head of Buddhist Wong Cheuk Um Primary School shared how to equip her panel members to implement e-learning in the English subject.

Part 4: Staff appraisal
 
 Using appraisal to promote self-reflection and establish clear expectations on effective teaching
 Adopting a variety of methods and tools to assess different aspects of teaching and non-teaching duties
 Giving quality and constructive feedback to appraisees
 Experience sharing: Mr Stephen Lam, panel head of Cotton Spinners Association Secondary School shared how to use appraisal to recognise the achievements of his panel members and enhance their personal development.

Maximising the use of human talents is a long term process which involves an integral conception of staff recruitment, deployment, development and appraisal
