A teacher in Po Leung Kuk Yao Ling Sun College conducted a short writing intervention program outside class time to scaffold the writing of a group of S2 struggling writers who showed no engagement, interest or confidence in writing. A process approach to writing was adopted in that pilot writing program and guided support was provided in the writing instruction. It was encouraging to find that those struggling writers showed active involvement in the writing activities and their writing products improved in quality. On the completion of the intervention program, students developed greater interest in writing and their writing skills enhanced. Most importantly, their sense of failures in writing reduced.
