“Promoting Talking and Writing in Science at Junior Secondary Level: Using English as the Medium of Instruction” (DVD)

This resource package was developed under a project with regard to the use of English as the MOI in science teaching at junior secondary level. It involves the collaboration between The University of Hong Kong academics and some secondary school teachers in trying out relevant teaching strategies for helping students overcome the language barrier in learning science in English and enhancing the effectiveness of student learning in science. This resource package is to consolidate the learning and teaching experiences of the whole project.

MOI
"Promoting Assessment for Learning in Junior Secondary Science through Identifying Students’ Learning Difficulties from Secondary Analysis of TIMSS and Refining Classroom Learning & Teaching Practices" (DVD)

This resource package was developed based on the analysis of the science component in the Hong Kong data of the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) which identified that the performance of our students in the topics on “Matter as Particles” and “Photosynthesis and Respiration” needs improvement. Yet these topics are covered with reasonable depth and breadth in the junior secondary science curriculum. According to the analysis of TIMSS's results, The University of Hong Kong academics collaborated with some secondary school teachers to develop, modify and implement relevant teaching strategies to enhance student learning. This resource package is to consolidate the experiences on the effective learning and teaching strategies for the relevant topics.
