Empowering Lifelong Learners: Self-directed Learning and Vocabulary Strategies for Enhanced Reading Capabilities

Explore how Yaumati Catholic Primary School (Hoi Wang Road) is enhancing its students' "reading to learn" capabilities and supporting Reading across the Curriculum (RaC) through the Self-directed Vocabulary Learning Programme. Integrated into the Key Stage 2 school English Language curriculum, this programme aims to build student confidence and competence, nurturing them into lifelong learners.

By introducing vocabulary-building and self-directed learning strategies, the programme aligns with the school's major concerns, which are promoting self-directed learning and RaC, while offering extensive opportunities for practical application. This approach not only supports RaC but also equips students with the necessary skills to tackle future learning challenges.
