Gain or Loss? The probability of winning “Mark Six” Lottery

Summary

“Mark Six” is a famous lottery game in Hong Kong. The first division prize money attracts many people. They dream to win the lottery and get lots of money. Then they can enjoy the life as a millionaire. Will their dreams come true easily?

What is the chance of winning the lottery? How can we calculate the probability of getting different prizes of “Mark Six”?

Some people think that “Mark Six” is an investment. The minimum capital is $5 only but the minimum first division prize money is $5 million! It is very attractive. In fact, how much will they expect to win for each investment of $5?

In this project, we try to answer the above questions by using the theory of probability. We want to give the public another opinions about “Mark Six”.
