Preparing students for a smooth transition from junior to senior levels: Implementation of LAC Periods and LAC Days
Purpose of the project:
To facilitate students for a better transition from P6 to S1 and from S3 to S4 through developing their academic literacy
Objectives to be achieved: School level:
to integrate the formal and informal curricula to widen students’ language exposure in content subjects
Teacher level:
to equip language teachers with the necessary knowledge and skills to use subject-specific materials to develop students’ language and thinking skills
to foster inter-departmental collaboration through organising cross-curricular activities
Student level:
to enhance students’ exposure to English inside and outside classroom at junior secondary levels
to develop students’ academic literacy in different KLAs

to support students to use English better when they study content subjects in junior and senior forms

Programme design
It is an extension of the summer bridging programme. An LAC period per cycle is arranged in the timetable to equip students with language skills in academic subjects in normal lessons.

Programme design
It is an extension of the LAC periods outside classroom. Some cross-curricular activities of different KLAs were organised during lunch time as a platform to increase and widen students’ language exposure in content subjects.
