Many teachers find teaching listening skills a challenge as there are limited observable traits to identify learners' strengths and weaknesses. Learners also have little control over what and who they listen to. The P4 English teachers from a primary school would like to explore ways to help their students develop their listening skills so as to improve their understanding of and responses to spoken texts. After the project, their curriculum design has become less exam-oriented and textbook-bound, as a result of the strategies adopted and materials designed. Also, students feel more confident in listening to a range of spoken texts presented in different ways and by different persons.
