• To provide teachers with an overview of classroom-level strategies for catering for learner diversity and scaffolding students' learning at secondary level• To show how the strategies can be incorporated in lessons and units• To provide teachers with hands-on practice of integrating the strategies into their daily teaching |

•Varying the teaching materials:Teachers analysed the strategies used to plan differentiated teaching and learning materials for streamed classes. They were also shown how materials could be adapted for mixed-ability classes by the inclusion of certain features, such as providing choices for students and creating open-ended tasks.
