Objectives of the Sharing Session :

• To enhance participants' capability of using data and evidence to evaluate work effectiveness and promote continuous self-improvement

• To celebrate participants' achievement in promoting the development of the English subject in their schools

• To provide a platform for participants to share their change management plans and strategies

Objectives of the Workshop :

Through exploring the topic 'Evaluation and Planning of the English Subject', we aim to develop the following curriculum leadership capabilities among participants:

• using data effectively to identify the development focuses of the English subject

• proposing concrete and workable actions for effective implementation of the subject plan

• establishing monitoring and/or evaluation mechanisms to ensure the subject plan can be implemented successfully

• using resources effectively and/or strategically to enhance implementation of the subject plan

• communicating effectively with different parties to foster a collaborative and reflective culture

Each of the schools receiving the second year of support shared an achievement in 2015/16

• What is the achievement? (support with data and evidence)

• What are the facilitating factors? (identify the learning from the CLD Programme)

• How to sustain the achievement? (embed the strategies/measures in the planning for 2016/17)

As a follow-up task of the previous workshop on Managing Change, participants shared their change management plan and strategies

• Importance of EPIE to a curriculum leader in leading the team to build on the past and prepare for the future

• Effective use of data in the EPIE process of curriculum development

• Use of SWOT and KISS to identify development focuses and set priorities

Planning actions

• Identifying targets through using data

• Identifying concrete measures which align closely with the targets set

• Defining success criteria (realistic, concrete, achievable, measurable and aligning with the objectives/targets)

• Establishing monitoring & evaluation mechanisms by using relevant evaluation methods and tools and stating the timeline for different tasks

Planning formative and summative evaluation

• A workshop session on how to develop an action plan to enhance assessment literacy among the panel members in the coming year
