Aims of Activity : |
To share good practices on how to:• promote students' active learning and enable them to acquire essential generic skills through systemic implementation of e-learning in school;• enhance students' reading skills and cultivate their positive values and attitudes through a school-based cultural exchange programme; and• foster students' self-understanding and develop their career aspirations by integrating life planning skills into the English Language curriculum. |

Case 1 Integrating e-learning into English learning and teaching through strategic planning and progressive implementation |
e-Learning is one of the major concerns in the current three-year school development plan of Lok Sin Tong Young Ko Hsiao Lin Secondary School. The teachers shared how they adopted the SAMR (Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition) model to integrate technology with their teaching at different grade levels. Their practice has boosted their students' motivation to learn English and developed their creativity, information technology, collaboration and independent learning skills.. |

Case 2 Connecting the Global Classroom with the school-based curriculum: Improve reading skills, heighten cultural awareness and promote positive values and attitudes |
The teachers of ELCHK Lutheran Secondary School shared how they tapped the benefits of inviting foreign students to their classrooms. Their practice did not only provide their students with increased exposure to English, but also fostered cultural exchange and facilitated their development of positive values and attitudes. |

Case 3 Supporting students' whole-person development through life planning and careers education |
The teachers of of Lions College and Hong Kong Teachers’ Association Lee Heng Kwei Secondary School shared how they incorporated the different components of the life planning processes into their school-based English Language curricula. Lions College focused on ‘Self-understanding and Development’ by integrating life planning skills into daily teaching to foster students’ self-understanding, goal setting and personal planning while Hong Kong Teachers’ Association Lee Heng Kwei Secondary School focused on ‘Career Exploration’ through arranging a variety of on-site career exploration visits. The meaningful learning experiences they offered their students have boosted their interest in learning English as well as enhanced their learning to learn skills which are essential for their whole-person development and lifelong learning. |
