To encourage professional exchange within the RTs network and embark on the learning journey in the GenAI era, our Section organised a professional development activity among RTs. The objectives of the seminar were as follows:
- Define GenAI and provide an overview of the various types of GenAI tools
- Explore the utility of GenAI for language learning and teaching purposes
- Discuss critical issues that language teachers should consider when integrating GenAI into their teaching practices
- Propose essential knowledge that language teachers need to effectively interact with GenAI tools
- Share practical suggestions regarding the GenAI use in the language classroom
Following the keynote speech, there was time for group discussions. The participating teachers actively shared their experience of incorporating GenAI into their teaching. All the teachers expressed an interest in developing new teaching resources and investigating the usage of GenAI and other electronic tools in their future instruction.
