  • 校內學科成績(香港中學文憑考試的成績除外);
  • 「其他學習經歷」;

Student Learning Profile (SLP)

SLP is a summary presentation of what a student participates and achieves, in terms of their whole-person development during the senior secondary years. It aims to demonstrate and recognize the whole-person development of all students as well as facilitate them to reflect on their on-going experiences and set goals. Hence, every student should be encouraged to build an SLP. Schools would have sole discretion over the design and implementation of their SLPs while they could also adapt the SLP module of WebSAMS and its templates provided by the Bureau (see http://www.edb.gov.hk/cd/slp). Generally speaking, schools should assist students in creating this profile, building on existing practices and adopting school-based implementation plan. The content of an SLP may include brief information on:

  • academic performance in school (other than results in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination);
  • Other Learning Experiences (OLE);
  • performance / awards gained outside school; and
  • student's ‘self-accounts’ (e.g. highlighting any impressive learning experiences or career goal setting)

SLP is a learning tool to facilitate the development of student reflection on their personal development. It is also a summary which demonstrates students’ personal qualities and serves as evidence of their whole-person development. Up to December 2017, over 30 non-JUPAS tertiary institutions in Hong Kong, 102 tertiary institutions in the Mainland and over 190 tertiary institutions worldwide have accepted SLP as a reference document to examine applicants' whole-person development.

Recommendations for Fine-Tuning SLP in Education Bureau Circular Memorandum No. 48/2013

Further to the implementation of the first 3-year cohort of the New Senior Secondary (NSS) Curriculum and the completion of the first Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination in 2012, the Education Bureau, the Curriculum Development Council (CDC), and the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA) have jointly conducted the New Academic Structure (NAS) review. The broad objective of the review is to assess the implementation and policy outcomes of the NAS and identify the strengths, good practices as well as the challenges ahead with a view to making effective recommendations for the continual improvement of the NSS curriculum and assessment in future. Based on the result of the review and with reference to the main issues on the curriculum, assessment and articulation pathways for further studies and work, the new recommendations for fine-tuning the NSS curriculum and assessment were delivered in April 2013. For details, please refer to the webpage of the NAS Review (http://www.edb.gov.hk/nas/review/en).

To meet the needs of schools and students, we have streamlined SLP through WebSAMs, including the cancellation of word limit of self-accounts and allowing students to choose appropriate OLE records for their SLPs. Therefore, schools can customize a school-based SLP with reference to their school contexts as well as the OEA form for JUPAS application and E-APP online application.

In the medium and long term, further streamlining may be conducted to align SLP with the admission requirements of different local study pathways.
