Language can help us construct knowledge and it plays an important role in learning and teaching. Through learning the genres commonly used in Chemistry - Descriptive Report, Procedural Account, Causal Explanation, and Comparison, students should be able to express the chemistry knowledge and concepts effectively and improve their writing skills.
This website, prepared by the Science Education Section of the Education Bureau, contains teaching guides, on-line interactive exercises and relevant reference materials of the commonly-used chemistry specific genres. Teachers can make use of these materials to teach students the chemistry specific genres and ultimately help them improve their writing skills in Chemistry.
