Introduction

Developing students as lifelong learners is one of our key educational goals. To achieve this goal, schools have made use of different curriculum initiatives such as e-learning, life planning and Reading across the Curriculum (RaC) as levers to nurture learning to learn capabilities and positive values and attitudes among their students. Schools with different contexts implement those initiatives to meet the specific needs of their students.

Case 1:
Promoting life planning education through life-wide English learning activities at junior secondary level

Teachers of The Salvation Army William Booth Secondary School shared how various life-wide learning activities could boost students' learning motivation of English and widen their exposure to different workplaces. Students understood themselves better and found that the learning experiences could help them make informed decisions about their future careers.

Teachers of TWGHs Mrs. Fung Wong Fung Ting College shared their experience of how to teach students various skills such as reading to learn, problem solving and critical thinking skills through a Reading across the Curriculum buddy reading programme. Both tutors and tutees benefited a great deal from the programme.

04:00 pm - 04:45 pm
Case 3:
Flipping the classroom to create space for active and deep learning in the S4 Drama elective module

Teachers of Carmel Divine Grace Foundation Secondary School shared how they infused active learning and higher-order thinking activities into their flipped S4 drama classroom before, during and after lessons. Since students had learnt the lesson content before they came to class, the time originally spent on unidirectional teaching in class could be freed up for them to engage in various collaborative and creative learning activities. e-Learning tools were infused into the implementation of this module to enhance the effectiveness of students' learning.
