Information about expertise:  Ms Crystal Zheng, English Panel Chairperson of Kau Yan College, led her team to revamp the English Language subject with space created by lesson reduction in the optimisation of the senior secondary core subjects. Students were provided with opportunities for academic and creative use of English with the infusion of the elective module Learning English through Poems and Songs into the compulsory part whilst practising e-learning and self-directed learning. In the process, they also developed student autonomy through setting goals, evaluating, monitoring and regulating their own learning.

They also trained some of the S2 students as tutors to coach P6 students of a neighbouring primary school to read non-fiction readers in a cross-key stage RaC buddy reading programme. Through this programme, the S2 student tutors improved their coaching skills, as well as their self-monitoring and self-management skills.
