Not only should pupils be able to enjoy, appreciate and learn from literary
works such as short stories, but they should also be able to respond to them,
or even to create their own literary work by applying what they have learnt
from reading or listening to short stories. Although some primary pupils
in Hong Kong may not have the proficiency in English or the experience
to create their own artwork, it does not mean that they can't or they
won't.
