Our voyage of nurturing self-directed learners

• To enhance teachers’ capacity in planning and implementing self-directed learning
• To improve students’ ownership of learning
• To equip students with self-management and self-monitoring capabilities
• To provide opportunities for students to apply their learning in new contexts

Building on the existing school-based curriculum, the English teachers have launched a project on self-directed learning since the school year 2012/13.  Data was collected to identify students’ needs.  A task-based framework was used to revamp or design units of work.
