Students gained a deeper understanding of their own career aspirations.
Students understood their personalities, strengths and weaknesses, and career aspirations through discussion, exploration and reflection. The career exploration activities not only provided good learning opportunities for students to know more about workplaces but also inspired them to understand their own career aspirations. Students could tell whether they were interested in the jobs and what skills would be important. About 85% of students agreed that they had developed a sense of commitment to set and pursue their goals.

Students developed positive values and attitudes towards work and learning.
Most of the students agreed that they learned positive values and attitudes from people they met in the workplace visits and career talks. They also learned that positive values and attitudes are important to their future career development. Around 90% of students claimed that they had developed an open-minded attitude, showed respect for others and different types of jobs and learned the importance of being responsible for study and work. In the reflection forms, students expressed that they needed to develop positive values and attitudes, for example, responsibility, patience, motivation, perseverance, diligence, confidence, and care for others.

Students learned self-directed learning skills.
About 85% of students agreed that they learned self-directed learning skills from the project. They had to design their own project goals, tasks and work schedule. They decided on what jobs they would like to present, how they searched for job information and what surveys they conducted. They also directed how to produce job-related videos. English and Visual Arts teachers acted as facilitators in the process and they were happy to see students’ efforts and initiative.

Students showed higher motivation to learn English and improved their language skills.
Students liked the workplace visits and career talks which offered them opportunities to use English outside the school and enriched their English learning experiences. Moreover, students learned to write job application letters and prepared their presentation materials including PowerPoint slides and videos for the Career Information Day. They presented job information and role-played different jobs. They showed interest and confidence in presenting and performing in English.
