Project Descriptions :

This project offers students a chance to organize activities and learn about the life of mildly mentally handicapped children. Upon completion of this project, on one side, participating students are expected to develop a habit of reflecting on their learning experience and transfer their acquired knowledge, skills and attitude to other areas. On the other side, we expect schools and teachers to foster a culture of learning reflection in a more systematic and effective way through this project.

Our Reflection

Project Teacher
To develop students’ talents
“Under the knowledge teaching-focused and examination-oriented education system in Hong Kong, the ‘Student as Learning Experience Designers (Student-LED)’ project is like a clear spring. It encourages every student to display his/her talents, design meaningful activities through cooperation and reflect continuously throughout the process.”
To integrate students’ learning experience
“We found that this pattern could really help students to integrate their learning inside and outside the classroom and also to gain more experience in and to reflect more on what they learnt.”

Core Members
To apply the knowledge acquired in other areas
“As for learning reflection, we never envisaged that what I learnt from the activity could be applied in other areas. We attempted to design a transfer project upon completion of our service, in which the sense of responsibility, communication skills, attention and endurance fostered during our service were applied to the areas of commitment to others, engagement in housework, studying and preparation for activities. This experience has strongly reminded us that learning requires flexible use of the knowledge acquired, experience gaining for future improvement and full application of what we learnt.”
